To supplement soil with organic matter, just remember three points: firstly, increasing soil organic matter content is not an overnight task; Secondly, there is an upper limit to soil organic matter (texture, cultivation, etc.), which cannot be infinitely increased if one wants to supplement it; The third is to consider the economy and choose appropriate supplementary methods.
Many people believe that the higher the organic matter content of
organic fertilizers, the better. Is this ture?
Let's first understand the principles of organic fertilizer decomposition and manufacturing.
During the ripening process of organic fertilizers, under the action of microorganisms, organic matter is degraded, nutrients are quickly available, and heat is generated and carbon dioxide is released, accompanied by the formation of humus.
Returning straw to the field has become a widely promoted agricultural measure to increase soil organic matter. The organic matter content of straw is very high, close to 90%, but the vast majority of the organic matter is cellulose. After one or two years of returning straw to the field, after soil microbial decomposition, the organic matter that can ultimately remain in the soil does not exceed 15%, and the majority is lost to the air in the form of carbon dioxide.
China stipulates that the organic matter content of commercial bio organic fertilizers should be more than 40%. Why is it 40%? Instead of 60%, 80%? Scientific research has shown that after general organic raw materials are decomposed, the organic matter content should be between 35% -45%. If it is too small, it indicates that the purity of the raw materials is not enough. If too many impurities such as sand and clay are added, it indicates that the decomposition is not thorough.
Heat and carbon dioxide are not generated out of thin air and consume a large amount of organic matter, so this process is also a process of reducing the weight and organic matter of organic fertilizers.
Regardless of the organic matter content of organic fertilizers, when applied to the soil, the vast majority of organic matter continues to be further decomposed by microorganisms, and is lost to the air in the form of carbon dioxide, with a small amount of humus and humic acid remaining in the soil.
When you spend money on organic fertilizers, it is better to purchase ones that have been thoroughly decomposed and have an organic matter content of 35% -45%, which can save costs economically and have good usage effects.
